BIOGRAPHYTelevision viewer’s best know William James Jones from his five year run as “Tony Wicks” on the successful N.B.C. television series, CALIFORNIA DREAMS. William originally hails from Chicago, IL graduating from the prestigious Chicago Academy for The Arts on the John Belushi Memorial Scholarship Fund. In Chicago, William has performed in such notable theaters as THE PEGASUS PLAYERS, INTERMEDIATE THEATER and played the role of Sebastian in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the infamous GOODMAN THEATER. Emancipating himself, William was relocated to Los Angeles at 16 years old to become the youngest series regular on the hit N.B.C. sitcom CALIFORNIA DREAMS. CALIFORNIA DREAMS is now heavily syndicated worldwide in over 80 countries. Since then, William has appeared in various feature films such as EXECUTIVE DECISION for Warner Bros., DREAM A LITTLE DREAM 2 and A DANGEROUS PLACE on HBO, the lead in CROSSING FIELDS for the Sundance Network and singing legend Billy Wright on NBC's M.O.W., THE LITTLE RICHARD STORY. Other television credits include 20 episodes on USA networks sitcom USA HIGH as Duane ”Excess “Wilson. William recurred on Fox's sitcom LIVING SINGLE and ABC’s sitcom GETTING BY with Telma Hopkins and SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH. Los Angeles theater credits include the role of Othello in The Actors Gang Theater production of Virginia Wolfe’s, ORLANDO, the title role of Joe Louis in The JOE LOUIS BLUES at The Tiffany Theaters, Tympani in Sam Shepherd's ANGEL CITY and his critically acclaimed one man show, JONES’N which world premiered at Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theater. Over the past summer’s, William has taught “The Power of Improvisation” course at THE NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY and also taught seminars on “The Power of Improvisation” at PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY. William James Jones has written, produced and directed plays at THE HUDSON AVENUE THEATERS and THE COMPLEX THEATERS. The Jones Theater Workshop began in 1999 along with CO-Founding Members Thyme Lewis (Soap star) and Randy Goodwin (Regular on Girlfriends-UPN Network) along with CO-Executive Producers Ron and Richard Harris. (La’Merte Park Theater Owners). Throughout his career, William has starred in over 100 episodes of sitcom television.
